Nine years ago, after the unfortunate death of dear friend and larger-than-life OTR personality Kim ‘Bubbles’ Michalek, Stacy Mock and Kelsea Johnson crafted a vision to memorialize Bubbles with one of her favorite social activities: a red dress hash run. And so was born the Bubbles Fun Run (BFR) that so many have come to know and love.
From barely 30 participants at the first BFR in 2017 to more than 190 participants in 2025, you all have demonstrated why the BFR carries on to this day. You, the OTR community, have made the BFR more successful than anyone could have imagined. Your excitement, your red dresses, your energy — it all means more than you know.
Many of you never got a chance to meet Bubbles, but you all know her spirit, love of adventure, necessity of shenanigans, and most importantly, her need to be with friends, family, and loved ones, share moments together, and create everlasting memories. You know her spirit, because Stacy has encapsulated all of those traits into the Bubbles Fun Run. The BFR is more than just an annual memorial to honor Bubbles’ memory; rather, is for you to be able to experience her unforgettable energy and the love that she poured into whatever space she was in.
This year, Stacy has a special surprise lined up to hand out at the start, and Brent Worls has kindly created another BFR koozie (both available only while supplies last).
Please note that this event is for ALL ages, and while some stops may offer alcohol, participation is always completely optional. Also, do not let the word “run” deter you from participating. Very few choose to actually run. It is more like a casual jaunt around the campground. You choose your pace – or the lines at the stops do!
Don’t forget to pack your red dresses, boas or whatever fun thing you want to wear!
Meet at Lutz Rock Memorial Garden at 12 Noon, and follow the course through the campground, stopping at camps all along the way for extra special shenanigans. The final stop will be at the Pavilion, where your celebratory Bubbles Fun Shine (or kid-friendly Sunny D) will be waiting. Stick around for the Saturday Caving Festival, featuring live music, open beer taps, merch sales, crafts, and contests.
