New in 2025, First Aid is offering a cooling station near the First Aid Station.
After the intense heat during setup week and OTR in 2024, First Aid crew chief Phil Goldman saw a need for a cooling station to provide volunteers and attendees a respite from the heat. Located adjacent to the First Aid Station, the Cooling Tent will provide a shaded area with misting sprayers and chairs for folks who need to sit down and cool off.
Users are not required to check into First Aid to use the Cooling Tent, but we strongly encourage that you notify First Aid staff so that they can rule out anything more serious, like dehydration, heat exhaustion, or worse.
Note that heat exhaustion and heat stroke are medical emergencies requiring immediate medical attention. Symptoms may include any or all of the following: headache, nausea, vomiting, rapid heart rate, cramps, extreme thirst, heavy sweating or no sweating, dry mouth, pale and/or dry skin, flushed and dry skin, and altered mental status. If you or someone you know is experience these symptoms, please come to First Aid immediately. First Aid can help to stabilize heat emergencies and transfer heat-injured individuals to a higher level of care.
